FSB Volunteer Recognition 2022 Event

FSB Volunteer Recognition 2022 Event

What a great start to 2022 for Merewyn Sayers of Sayers Solutions.  As an active volunteer for FSB (Federation of Small Business) Merewyn was invited to take part in the FSB Volunteer Recognition 2022 event in February, where more than 300 FSB staff and volunteers from across the UK came together virtually to celebrate their contribution and show that they are #ProudToBeFSB

This was a great way to offer a well-deserved thank you for all that give their commitment and support to the FSB and to recognise and acknowledge the amazing team of volunteers who have supported FSB and their small business communities over the past year.

Volunteers are at the heart of FSB, and we are incredibly fortunate to have such loyal and passionate support from our members, on behalf of the UK’s 5.9 million small businesses.

During the event, Video contributions were shared from members explaining why they are #ProudtobeFSB. Amongst these were Ruth Brown-Shepherd and Gill Askew who are active members in our Region.

The most part of the event was naming and recognising the many volunteers that give their time for the FSB to help small businesses. Here is just a small selection of screen shots taken during the event. Can you recognise people from our region?

You should be able to see Irshad Akbar, Gareth Alexander, Gill Askew, Richard Askew, Ruth Brown-Shepherd, Lee Harris-Hamer, Michael Janes, Paul Stevens, Jane Walton, Simon Williams and of course our own Merewyn.

Merewyn herself has been an FSB volunteer now for 7 years, as well being the elected Area Lead for West Yorkshire, she runs the weekly networking event on a Tuesday morning on behalf of FSB. Everyone is given time to introduce themselves and their business.

Merewyn also had the opportunity last year to attend an FSB Chairman’s reception at the Houses of Parliament.

Before the event closed there was a special recognition for our Chairman for past years leading the FSB, as he now stands down at the end of his elected period.

Speaking afterwards Merewyn said “It was lovely to see so many of my FSB colleagues on the Volunteer Recognition event.  The networking events that I have run on behalf of the FSB have enabled me to meet so many different business people and create some worthwhile friendships as well as build good business relationships.  I would definitely recommend both volunteering for and joining the FSB”
